Hard-working women for Pawlet Select Board

Broadband internet inequities

Our broadband service in the Town of Pawlet isn’t equitable. 57.7% of residents have access to high-speed fiber internet, like in the Village of Pawlet where Jessica lives. But it’s a different story at Maureen’s house in West Pawlet, and 8.6% of residents barely have internet at all.(https://publicservice.vermont.gov/…/broadband-availability)

One step toward getting better internet is joining a Communications Union District (https://publicservice.vermont.gov/…/vermont…), in which many towns join together to have better bargaining power with internet providers. Jessica is proud to say that the Pawlet Planning Commission she chairs, thanks to some great work by Tom Collard, just proposed that we join the Otter Creek CUD, and the Select Board voted yes at their meeting this week.

Another example of what Pawlet can do when we work hard and pull together!
